Channel 4 News interviews STA Chairman Howard Johns

Following the rejection of the Feed in Tariff appeal, Channel 4 News interviewed Energy Minister Greg Baker and Solar Trade Association Chairman Howard Johns.

The Minister blamed the inherited “disastrous” system on the Labour Government that in Governments view has led to the current solar market bubble and an economically “unsustainable” situation. 

During the interview Mr. Johns explained that the industry does not opposes cuts but the retrospective way the government has applied them. He explained that the reference date, declared unlawful twice, has brought uncertainty to the sector which has damaged sales and put at risk thousands of jobs. Mr. Johns also argued that revenues from taxes exceed the cost of the feed-in tariffs.
